You can now log into and register with ScholarOne via your ORCID iD. This does require some initial setup but makes it quicker for you to log in each time. You can continue to log in via your ORCID iD or your IOP ScholarOne credentials.

Here are some step by step instructions on how to do this.

Log in via your ORCID iD

To log in via your OCID ID, click on the ‘Log In With ORCID iD’ link under the standard ScholarOne login boxes. To create a new account using ORCID, you will also need to follow the steps below.

This will take you to an ORCID page asking you to log in or create an ORCID account.

If you have used this login process before or already linked your ORCID iD to your ScholarOne profile, you will automatically be logged in to the ScholarOne site.

If this is your first time linking the ORCID and ScholarOne accounts together, you will be asked to authorize the IOP journal to get their ORCID iD and to read limited-access information such as your name and address. This will make it easier for any new users without an existing ScholarOne account to pre-fill their information when creating an account.

Next, you will need to link your ORCID account to the ScholarOne site. You will have option to create a new account or log in with your existing IOP ScholarOne credentials.

If you already have an account on IOP’s ScholarOne sites, you will only need to provide your ScholarOne login credentials once. Afterwards, you can use either the ScholarOne or ORCID credentials to log in.

Applied Physics Express (APEX) Articles

The below JSAP Author Rights Policy applies to subscription articles submitted to APEX up to and including 18 November 2018.

IOP’s Author Rights Policy and permissions policies apply to subscription articles submitted to APEX between 19 November 2018 and 2 October 2023.

Articles submitted to APEX from 3 October 2023 will be published on a Gold Open Access basis under a CC BY 4.0 licence (if accepted for publication).

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics (JJAP) Articles

The below JSAP Author Rights Policy applies to subscription articles in JJAP as follows:

• For regular articles – submitted to JJAP up to and including 18 November 2018.
• For special issues – for issues in JJAP up to and including issue SK (9s) published in 2019.

IOP’s Author Rights Policy and permissions policies applies to subscription articles in JJAP as follows:

• For regular articles – submitted to JJAP from 19 November 2018.
• For special issues – for issues in JJAP from issue SL (11s) published in 2019.

JSAP Author Rights Policy

Authors of subscription access articles published in either Applied Physics Express or Japanese Journal of Applied Physics are granted the following rights:

1. The right to reproduce original figures and/or tables from one of their articles.
2. The right to reproduce parts of their article.
3. The right to post their Accepted Manuscript immediately on their personal website
4. The right to post their Accepted Manuscript immediately to arXiv.
5. The right to post their Accepted Manuscript immediately to the social networking sites Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & Line
6. The right to post their Accepted Manuscript on their institution’s repository after a 12 month embargo period.

In the cases above, authors must:

• cite the article as a reference (including journal title, volume, issue number, article ID and DOI);  and
• clearly state the copyright line of the article including year of publication (in the case of figure/table reuse, authors must include the copyright line at the end of the figure caption).

Authors of subscription access articles published in either Applied Physics Express or Japanese Journal of Applied Physics also have the rights as set out in section 5 of the Copyright Policy of the Japan Society of Applied Physics.

Who can benefit?
All corresponding authors that are current staff members, researchers (permanent, temporary and visiting), or students at one of the institutions below at the point of submission, can publish open access at no cost to themselves. The corresponding author is the person listed as Corresponding Author at the time of submission, and is the person responsible for communicating with the journal during the peer review and publication process.
