Researchers from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology

IOP Publishing (IOP) has a transformative agreement with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia to enable a transition to open access publishing.

J.K. Vijayakumar, Library Director at KAUST said:

“We are proud to demonstrate our commitment to open access through the first open access policy in the Middle East and will continue our efforts to align with global Open Access initiatives. Through a combination of open access programs, transformative agreements and research repository services, we strive to ensure our research articles on world-leading scientific advances are available to all. We were part of IOP’s open access off-set program since 2017 and converting to read and publish agreement for next 3 years from 2020”.

Who can benefit?
All corresponding authors that are current staff members, researchers or students at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology at the time of acceptance, can publish open access at no cost to themselves. The corresponding author is the author that submits the manuscript and is responsible for communicating with the journal during the submission, peer review and publication process.

What’s included?
• Articles accepted from 1st January 2020 will be eligible for transformative agreement funding to enable authors to publish open access with no cost to themselves
• Research paper, special issue, letter and review article types
• Included journals are those in lists A and B. Click here for a full title list of eligible journals.

Please note
Funding is subject to KAUST funding approval at acceptance stage. If for any reason funding is declined, the author(s) will have the opportunity to revert to subscription publication type at zero cost to you and the member institution.

A small number of journals attract additional charges including but not limited to, page charges. These remain payable by the authors.
